Daily Quote 1/30/12: Louis C.K.

30 Jan

Louis C.K. is probably the funniest person on the planet right now. I saw him perform live earlier this year and laughed so hard I cried while simultaneously wetting my pants. Here is a great quote to serve as a reminder for people who say that they are “bored” all the time.

“I’m bored’ is a useless thing to say. I mean, you live in a great, big, vast world that you’ve seen none percent of. Even the inside of your own mind is endless, it goes on forever, inwardly, do you understand? The fact that you’re alive is amazing, so you don’t get to say ‘I’m bored.”
― Louis C.K.

His special “Live At The Beacon Theatre” is available for $5.00 on his site, here. He’s already grossed over 1 million off of this special, the overwhelming majority he donated to charity and gave to his employees. It’s good to know where the money goes and plus it’s a lot of laughs for only $5.00.

Enjoy, thanks for reading!

Daily Quote 1/29/12: Dan John

29 Jan

Next to Mike Boyle, Dan John is without question the most influential person in my professional career. His advice is practical and proven by the accomplishments of both himself and his athletes. On top of all of this he is a great person. His advice, like the following often transcends beyond strength and conditioning and to life as well.

“If it’s important, do it every day.”

Pick what is important and do it. Daily.

Daily Quote: 1/27 & 1/28

28 Jan

This one is big so you get a two for one here. One of my clients sent me this and I thought it was awesome. Enjoy and have a great weekend!

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.

Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company … a church … a home.

The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past. We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable.

The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude … I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me, and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you … we are in charge of our Attitudes.

Daily Quote: 1/26/12: John Maxwell

26 Jan

I probably have more quotes from John Maxwell saved up than from any other person. This guy is an extraordinary leader and I think his books can be life changing. I like this quote as simple reminder that I must manage my attitude daily though positive self affirmation.

“The sum of all your thoughts comprises your overall attitude.”

It’s easy to get bogged down by surrounding negativity and daily tribulations that may piss you off. Don’t let it ruin your attitude and sour everything around you. Outweigh the negative with the positive and the glass will always be half-full.

Daily Quote 1/25/12: Larry Winget

26 Jan

There are a lot of smart people out there who are unsuccessful. Why do you think this is? Probably because of laziness and lack of confidence. You can have all of the knowledge in the world but without effort and follow through it is worthless.

“Knowledge is not power. The implementation of knowledge is power.” -Larry Winget

In the world of fitness I find this to be especially true. Everyone in this field always wants to “talk shop” about the next best thing, but how many of those people follow through and actually do what they talk about? If we had as many people in this field doing what they spend so much time talking about we would have more successful coaches,  better clients and the field would be advancing. Get comfortable testing out new ideas and trying out new methods you’ve read about to decide if they are worth their weight. You have to put your thoughts into action, without action they’re useless.
